Marvelous Monday and sunny week

Summary

A convergence zone (CZ) and lingering moisture produced respectable overnight snowfall for the Cascades. The low snow levels will mean quality snow on the slopes to start the week. Monday will see a wonderful day skiing. Much of the rest of the week will see high pressure build in and cause mostly sunny skies for the week. By next weekend there is an increasing chance of snowfall.

Short Term Forecast

Monday looks excellent with 3-7” new snow with more snow possible in the central WA Cascades (Stevens/Summit/Crystal) from a convergence zone of enhanced snowfall. The snow level will be low at 500 ft, making for excellent quality snow – light and fluffy, especially on the north-facing slopes. Enjoy the slopes on Monday and expect the chance for increasing sunshine. I am confident high pressure will build in for the week ahead and that means plenty of sunshine, but with little or really no chance of snow through Friday.

Extended Forecast

The weekend will see the high break down and allow a modest storm system to move into the area. The details on the timing and amounts of the upcoming weekend storm are unclear at this point, but I’d guess 4-8” of new for a wonderful refresh.
