La Nina Forecast is good for NW snowfall

Summary

NOAA has issued a La Nina watch, indicating the possibility of a La Nina winter. That is good news! La Nina is the cooling of tropical Pacific waters which can affect our weather patterns here in the NW with abundant snowfall.

Update

Typically, we have near to above normal snowfall with La Nina for the NW. The last La Nina was in 2017-18 with 100-125% normal snowfall, which was a wonderful winter of skiing. The NW includes mainly northern Oregon, WA and southern BC to the Inland NW ( Eastern WA, North ID and into MT and to WY. Many other ski areas are not favored by La Nina.

Get ready for a good one.
