Warm on Monday, snow on Tuesday

Summary

Monday will be the final day in the streak of warm weather, and then we'll see snow on Monday night and Tuesday morning.

Update

Sunday

Sunday was another classic spring day with sunny skies and high temperatures in the 50s.

Monday

Monday will be the last warm and sunny day in our spring-weather streak, and the high temperature will be in the 40s.

After midday, we'll transition to somewhat cloudier and showery weather as the next storm approaches from the west.

Monday Night & Tuesday

The storm will cross Colorado on Monday night, and it will strengthen to the east of Colorado on Tuesday morning.

Temperatures will be cold enough for precipitation to fall as snow across most of the mountain, though the base area may see raindrops at times.

For snow accumulations, I continue to think that 5-10 inches is a reasonable forecast. Some of the snow will fall by Tuesday morning's 500 am report, and more snow will fall between 500 am and midday, so conditions could be a little deeper than what you see on the report.

Because we'll likely receive fewer than 10 inches of new snow, we'll still be able to feel the crunchy base, and the best conditions should be on lower-angle and recently groomed slopes. The snow quality should be moderate - not too fluffy and not overly thick - so Tuesday morning could be surfy and soft and fun.

By Tuesday afternoon, the snow will end, the sun could make an appearance, and the high temperature will rise into the mid-30s.

Longer Range

Wednesday should be dry, then from Thursday to Saturday, there will be a mix of dry weather and some showers with high temperatures in the upper 30s to low 40s.

Then Sunday, closing day, should be at least partly sunny with likely dry weather and a high temperature in the 40s.

My next update will be Tuesday morning.
