Summary

Following quieter weather to start the month of March, the storm train will return to much of the Western US as we head into the middle of the month. California should do very well during the week of March 8th, along with destinations in Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming.

Different week, same story. Alta/Snowbird and Jackson/Targhee continued their snow dominance during the final days of February with 14-17 inches.

Jackson Hole ended the month of February with 171 inches, which made February 2021 the second snowiest February on record and the third snowiest month on record. They have received 468 inches since October 1st so 500+ inches is well within reach.

Moving onto the forecast, the first week of March started out quiet and that continues as I type on Wednesday, March 3rd. It's not all quiet though as a storm will slide into Colorado on Thursday and bring a solid refresh to Arapahoe Basin and Aspen Snowmass.

Target first chair on Friday morning for the best turns.

Extended Forecast

Following quiet and very spring-like weather over the weekend of March 6th and 7th, our full attention will shift to the week of March 8th as the storm train finally returns to California.

The details will evolve over the next few days but we're watching the evening of Monday, March 8th through Wednesday, March 10th for 1-2+ FEET at Squaw Alpine and Mammoth. Start planning now if you're looking for the deep in California.

Outside of California, Utah, Colorado, and Wyoming will also do well during this cycle so destinations such as Alta/Snowbird, Jackson/Targhee, and A-Basin/Aspen will be in the flow.

As always, stay up-to-date with our team of local forecasters. They will provide you with excellent local analysis and really help you dial in the details with updates every morning.
