As we discussed in last week's update, California was targeted to receive upwards of 1-2 FEET early this week and that's exactly what happened. Squaw Alpine reported 25 inches from this most recent cycle and here was the scene on Wednesday (3/11)...

Delicious!

The storm that delivered the goods to California early in the week will now slowly make its way east and deliver a monster storm to Colorado. This is trending to be a classic "upslope" storm that will pump moisture from the Gulf of Mexico and deliver FEET of snow to areas west of Denver.

As I'm typing on Thursday afternoon, the storm will arrive by midday Saturday for Arapahoe Basin and Aspen Snowmass and deliver very heavy snow through Sunday. This storm will favor A-Basin over Aspen with 12-24+ inches, though Aspen Highlands should still be looking at 8-16 inches.

Travel will be extremely difficult to impossible from midday Saturday through at least Sunday so if you're planning to chase to either Colorado destination this weekend, get there on Friday to be safe.

Further south, Taos in New Mexico will not be in the heart of the storm but enough wrap-around moisture should also bring 6-12+ inches from Saturday night through Sunday. Could be a good bet for awesome turns early next week.

Outside of the well-advertised storm for the Rockies, it will be a very quiet week for the rest of the Mountain Collective destinations. Very quiet for Alta/Snowbird and Jackson/Targhee compared to the past 6-8 weeks.

As always, stay up-to-date with our team of local forecasters. They will provide you with excellent local analysis and really help you dial in the details with updates every morning.

Looking further ahead, another round of snow will target many of the Rockies' destinations around Tuesday (3/16) and Wednesday (3/17). The storm track and cooler air will then shift east and bring a much-needed refresh to Sugarbush in Vermont.

Thanks for reading! Next update on Wednesday, March 17.
